Frank Berty: A Journey Between Music and Story
Frank Berty, originally from Lyon, is a French singer-songwriter whose artistic career spans a considerable time, blending rock, blues, and more intimate styles. A left-handed guitarist, he developed a unique approach to music from an early age, exploring both ensemble playing and personal expression as a guitarist, bassist, and singer.
After several years on stage, he began a solo career in 2018 with the album Aquablues, acclaimed by critics, notably by Yes FM who evokes «a journey through space and time».
In 2020, he continues this exploration with Timelapse. The title «Making Tears» resonates particularly with the public, garnering nearly 100,000 views on YouTube.
In 2023, Frank Berty returns to the essentials with a more stripped-down approach, focusing on acoustic guitar and voice. This artistic evolution prioritizes raw emotion, while surrounding himself with musicians of diverse influences to enrich his universe.
A literary turn with The Curse of the Martin Girls
In 2025, he reached a new milestone with the publication of his first autobiographical novel, The Curse of the Martin Girls, aux Lys Bleu Editions.
This intense family saga blends tragedy, irony, and biting humor, exploring the unspoken truths and fractures of a lineage marked by fate.
Today, Frank Berty is developing a hybrid artistic project at the crossroads of music, storytelling, and performance, with a theatrical adaptation that blends concert and narration.
The Martin Girls' Curse: Frank Berty transforms his novel into an immersive musical performance blending blues rock, intimate storytelling, and cinematic imagery
Adapting a book into a play is a well-known exercise. Transforming it into a sensory experience, where music, imagery, and narration respond to each other without hierarchy, is much less common.
It's the bet made by The Curse of the Martin Girls, creation by the Lyon-based singer-songwriter Frank Berty, which today marks a decisive step with a first performance announced for September 17, 2026, at 8:30 PM in the Salle Bellevue, at the Radiant-Bellevue in Caluire-et-Cuire.
Inspired by his Roman Published by Éditions du Lys Bleu, the project is constructed as a complete work, conceived from the outset to exist on stage, in music, and in visual form. Between a blues-rock concert, an autobiographical narrative, and visual projections, it offers an immersive experience that seeks to make an intimate story accessible to the public, not through narration alone, but through emotion.
